Watch your Japanese appear as you speak — and study your own documents

Recording now transcribes as you go: pause after a sentence and it appears. Transcripts can also be PDF, Word or text files, opened as running text with any sentence one click from study. And every card you have saved now has a list of its own.

    • Live transcription: sentences appear a moment after each pause, and only the parts with speech count toward your minutes
    • Documents: open a PDF, Word (.docx) or TXT file; click any sentence to study it on the right, hear it read aloud, or add it to review
    • Drag one transcript onto another to merge them into one, and rename any of them
    • All cards: every saved word and grammar point, newest first, grouped by the day you saved it
  3. Learning

Scenes you can hear, and Japanese you bring yourself

Every scene line now has a natural Japanese voice, scenes carry on as free conversation, news can be read aloud, and a new Transcripts tab turns your own recordings and videos into text you study sentence by sentence.

    • Scenes: choose a scripted dialogue with every line voiced, or a free conversation where the other characters answer out loud
    • Scene introductions now appear in your own language
    • News: tap Listen to hear any sentence
    • Transcripts: record what you hear, or choose a video or audio file; replay any sentence and add it to review
  4. Learning

"Study this article" works again when you are signed in

For signed-in learners, opening a news article to study could show an empty page. It now opens with the article, and short breaking-news items on NHK can be studied too.

    • Scene lines added before signing in now come with you when you sign in
    • Fill-the-gap review no longer blanks unrelated words, and YouTube captions stay hidden until you reveal the answer
    • Scene answer checks are only counted when a check actually comes back
  5. Learning

Scenes: play a role in a real conversation

A new tab in Discover. Pick a short dialogue — a convenience store, a call to a clinic, meeting an old friend — choose who you play, and say your lines as the conversation comes to you.

    • On your turn, answer yourself and AI tells you whether it fits the moment, not whether it matches word for word
    • Stuck? Take a hint that shows the shape of the line, or look at it
    • Any line opens for word lookup and grammar, the same as a video sentence
    • Add your lines to review: they come back in your daily session, as "what do you say next" and as a fill-in
    • Studying every shared scene is free; write your own from any situation you describe
  6. Review

Review that actually tests the word

Word cards now ask you to fill the gap: the sentence you saved it from, with the word blanked and its meaning as the hint.

    • The word is hidden everywhere it appears in the sentence, including a kana reading line
    • YouTube captions stay off until you reveal the answer
    • Video review has a new fill-the-gap mode: hear the line, pick the missing word from four
  7. Platform

Seven days of everything, and yearly plans

New accounts get the full version for seven days, no card needed. Basic and Early Access can now be paid yearly, and the Lifetime card is $199.

    • The free plan keeps 30 saved words
    • Basic yearly is $69, Early Access yearly is $88
    • A short guide, a daily goal and a streak help you come back tomorrow
  8. Platform

Clearer about what needs an account, and what needs a plan

When something is locked, Mimora now tells you at the moment you try it: sign in if it needs an account, upgrade if it needs a plan.

    • Tracking mode in the AI chat opens the right prompt instead of sitting greyed out
    • The video review button shows how many of your review slots are in use, and only asks once they are full
  9. Learning

    A quieter Discover page

Video cards now carry a badge only when you have started or finished a video, so the ones that matter stand out.

    • The hint to learn hiragana and katakana first appears in your own language, with videos searched in it too
    • Words in news articles open with example sentences, the same as words in videos
    • In the browser, switch between light and dark straight from the top bar
  10. Learning

Translate the article you are reading

A button above each news article shows a translation under every sentence — only when you ask, so you try the Japanese first.

    • Where Chrome supports it, the translation runs on your own device
    • The news feed adds CNET Japan
    • On Android, the feed now lists only sources the app can open in full
  11. Review

One review flow on both clients

Video review now works the same way in the browser and on Android, and your progress follows you between them.

  12. Platform

    Mimora in seven languages

The interface is now available in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Burmese and Nepali.

  13. Platform

    We are now Mimora

The product has a name of its own. Rinrin and BB keep theirs — they are the companions, not the app.

  14. Platform

The browser and the phone are the same product

Both clients now share five sections — Discover, Review, Resources, AI and Learning space — in the same order, with the same names.

    • Vocabulary, grammar and finished videos live together under Resources
    • AI is a section of its own instead of a third content source
    • Settings and your account moved out of the main navigation
  15. Review

    A better review flow

Video review is now a listening pass first: you hear the sentence, decide, and only then see the text.

    • Continuous or sentence-by-sentence playback
    • Mark a sentence as needing work without breaking the run
    • Finished videos are archived under Resources
  16. Resources

    A unified learning library

Everything you save lands in one place, grouped by estimated JLPT level, with the sentence it came from attached.

    • Search 218,000 offline dictionary entries and save straight from the results
    • Each word opens a page of its own, with every context you met it in
    • The free plan holds 30 saved words
  17. Mobile

    Mimora on Android

The Android app shares one account and one library with the browser extension.

  18. AI

Ask about the sentence you are on

Questions now carry the sentence you are studying, so answers are about your content rather than Japanese in general.
